Mothers are amazing beings. Think about everything a Mom does throughout her day. She’s a cook, housecleaner, litigator, counselor, psychiatrist, teacher, referee…You name it and a Mom does it.
But I don’t have to tell you that.
Have you heard the phrase, “Necessity is the mother of invention”? Of course you have. And look. Right smack in the middle of that quote is the word mother.
Mothers have been inventors for centuries. They are the original entrepreneur. When things break, or someone gets injured or a problem needs to be solved, moms are right on it adding their own personal touch or flare in order to solve a problem. That my friends is the definition of the word entrepreneur. Someone who creates something that fills a need.
There are numerous Mompreneurs out there. Some more famous than others.
Ruth Handler the creator of the Barbie Doll in 1959 was a Mompreneur.
J.K. Rowling the author of Harry Potter is a Mompreneur.
So is Ariana Huffington, Tina Brown, Laura Berg and countless others.
Perhaps you’ve created something out of necessity at some point in your life. If so, congratulations! You’re a Mompreneur!
In conclusion I invite you to kick back, pour yourself a glass of wine and celebrate the fact that you are in the company of a highly esteemed group of women. You my friend are a problem solver. Bathe in the glory that is yours.
Enjoy your day, relax and know that the world is a better place because of moms like you and me.
Mother + Entrepreneur = Mompreneur
Happy Mother’s Day!
