It’s no secret that we all lead busy lives. Between family, work and social commitments it sometimes feels as though we need to schedule time just to breathe.
I’m guilty of this. If I’m not at work, I’m thinking about work.
I used to have horses and would ride regularly but when Wicked Good started that hobby/life ended. I missed having that time to unwind and just be. Enter my husband and the best Valentine’s Day gift ever. My very first drum kit.
That’s right I play the drums. Scott bought the kit for me as a way to distract, unleash and entertain the part of me that needed a creative outlet. I was immediately hooked.
My drums have a place of honor in our cellar. I can venture down whenever I want and wail away to my heart’s content. I take lessons when my schedule permits, I watch instructional videos on Youtube but mostly I play along with my favorite band and get lost in the world that music has to offer.
I’m not great but I’m also not that bad. The important thing is I’m having fun, I’m giving myself much needed me time and I’m creating a sound that’s unique to me.
I invite you to find that something that gives you a break whether it be mountain biking, kick boxing or the violin.
We make sure to take the time to nourish our bodies…Remember it’s equally as important to take the time to nourish your soul. T ~
